The Ombudsperson of Bulgaria Maya Manolova visited the central mosque in the town of Kardzhali

 

A delegated headed by the Ombudsperson of the Republic of Bulgaria Maya Manolova visited the central mosque in the town of Kardzhali on April 22 (Monday) this year.

During the visit Manolova was accompanied by the Regional Ombudsperson of Kardzhali Rasim Musa, the Mayor of the Municipality of Kardzhali Eng. Hasan Azis, Father Petar and other local public figures.

The delegation was welcomed by the Regional Mufti of Kardzhali Beyhan Mehmed along with his deputies Nasuf Halil and Erhan Redzheb. The aim of the visit of the national ombudsperson to the town of Kardzhali was to organize and distribute food packages to social deprived people, retired and elderly people from the region.

Nearly 250 food packages were distributed at the yard of the church next to “Otets Paisiy” School under the slogan “Easter for Everyone”.

There were also distributed 250 packages to needy Muslims at the yard of the central mosque of Kardzhali under the slogan “Preparation for the Month of Ramadan”. The Ombudsperson Maya Manolova and the Mayor of the Municipality had the opportunity to greet the participating Muslims with the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. After the event the guests visited also Regional Mufti’s Office – Kardzhali where the Regional Mufti had the opportunity to inform the delegation about the social activities of Regional Mufti’s Office – Kardzhali and of the Muslim Denomination as a whole. Within the meeting problems related to the implementation of the new Law on the Religious Denominations were addressed. 

At the end of the meeting the Regional Mufti gave the Ombudsperson Maya Manolova the Bulgarian edition of the Holy Qur’an and the book, published by Grand Mufti’s Office “Islam against Violence”.
