The annual traditional sünnet of Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad brought together thousands of Muslims from all over the country

Like every year during the present spring Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad organized and held a mass sünnet (circumcision) where for a first time host of the annual event was the village of Dolno Dryanovo, Municipality of Garmen.The event was organized together with the local mosque’s board of trustees and took place on April 21 (Sunday), 2019.

Official guests of the event, which brought together thousands of Muslims from the region of Blagoevgrad and from the entire country, were the Grand Mufti of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the regional Mufti of Pazardzhik Abdullah Salih, the representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria - Mehmed Genç, who is a social affairs attaché, and Şenol Genç – educational affairs attaché at the Turkish embassy. The event as also attended by imams, representatives of the local authorities and MPs.

“The event was carried out according to an old custom, typical for the region of Nevrokop. Like every year it included the custom “alay” – a traditional tour and pronunciation of Takbir, related to the sünnet ceremony, as well as the popular pehlivan (oil) wrestling” – said for Grnandmufti.bg the Regional Mufti of Blagoevgrad Aydan Mohamed who is also a host of the event. He also added that during the organized circumcision were circumcised 64 boys in total.

On this occasion in his speech to all children, parents and guests the Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi addressed the topic about the care and the education of the children and that without religion a valuable development cannot be achieved. He underlined the importance of this the children to be engaged in the summer Qur’an courses during the upcoming summer period of the year.

For all children who symbolically entered into Islam during the circumcision in the village of Dolno Dyanovo was made a dua (supplication).

“May the Almighty Allah grant health and long life as dignified Muslims to all children and their parents. May Allah be pleased with the people who assisted for the implementation of the wonderful holiday in the village of Dolno Dryanovo” – said the Regional Mufti Aydan Mohamed.

The traditional sünnet on Sunday ended with a lunch for all guests, provided by the organizers from the Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad and the mosque’s board of trustees of the village of Dolno Dryanvo.
