Young Muslim girl from Haskovo memorized the Holy Qur’an for 15 months

Sara Shaban is from Haskovo and student in 11^th grade in a Muslim religious school in Edirne, Turkey. After the beginning of her education in Turkey the girl started the Qur’an course for girls “Hüma Hatun” in Edirne and began to memorize the Holy Qur’an. All the time she successfully combined her education in the secondary school and this in the Qur’an course. It was not necessary to withdrew from her studiesin order to progress with the memorization of the Book.

Only 15 months were necessary for her to officially obtain the title “hafiza” (translated from Arabic language – a woman who knows the texts of the Holy Qur’an by heart, “guardian”).

On this occasion a big celebration, organized by Regional Mufti’s Office – Haskovo together with the family of the young hafiza Sara Shaban took place on November 11, 2018 in “Charshi mosque” in the town of Haskovo.

“For a first time on the territory of Bulgaria takes place a celebration on the occasion of memorization of the Holy Qur’an by a woman”. And that was one really wonderful celebration, attended by more than 600 guests from the entire country and from abroad” – said with excitement for Grandmufti.bg the Regional Mufti of Haskovo Basri Eminefendi.

Among the official guests of the festive program were the Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Birali, a number of regional muftis from the country, representatives of the diplomatic missions of Egypt, Indonesia and Turkey to Bulgaria, as well as guests from Turkey and many other representatives of the Muslim community in Haskovo and the entire country.

The program was opened with an artistic reading of the Holy Qur’an and included also recitations and performances of ilyahi (religious songs) by the students from the year-round Qur’an course for children in the town of Haskovo. The hafiza Sara Shaban shared in brief about her 15-month way on memorization of the Word of Allah, including the difficulties and the challenges which she faced in this endeavor. She expressed her happiness and satisfaction with the success which she achieved.

Greeting addresses to her and all guests were delivered by the host and Regional Mufti of Haskovo Basri Eminefendi who in his speech focused on the meaning and importance of the memorization of the Holy Qur’an, as well as by the other official guests.

The Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi officially gave Sara Shaban a certificate from the Muslim Denomination in the Republic of Bulgaria for the successfully completed memorization of the Holy Qur’an.

The festive program was officially closed with a common dua (supplication) made by the guest from the Republic of Turkey Nuri Böcekbakan.

We greet Sara Shaban for her great success! May Allah give her right understanding of the obtained knowledge and to full benefit of it from now on! Let the light of the Qur’an, which she already has in herself, illuminate her life path and be also a light for the others!
