Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi held an official meeting with the President Rumen Radev

The Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi held an official meeting with the President of the country Rumen Radev on November 2 (Friday), 2018. It was initiated by Grand Mufti’s Office ad took place at the premises of the Presidency at 2 Knyaz Al. Dondukov Str. in the capital.

Within his conversation with the Head of State the Grand Mufti addressed important topics related to the prepared and adopted at first voting amendments to the Law on the Religious Denominations and the resulting concerns of the Muslim community in our country. There were discussed several aspects of the amendments among which the restriction of the foreign funding of the religious denominations, the education of the Muslim clerics and clarification the status of the High Islamic Institute in our country, and others.

The President Rumen Radev shared that he supports the activity of the Muslim Denomination in Bulgaria and focused on that the education of the Muslim clerics in our country has to be in its own material base and according to the established in our country educational standards.

“The preparation of the bills on the work of the religious denominations in Bulgaria has to be in a constructive dialogue with the representatives of the traditional religious communities”, said Rumen Radev during the meeting with the Grand Mufti. In his turn Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi highlighted that the Muslim Denomination in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church share common positions in the dialogue related to the amendments of the Law on the Religious Denominations.

“It is of a great importance to us to keep in touch with the state institutions when solving these issues”, further said Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi during the meeting.

The meeting with the Head of State Rumen Radev is part of the series of meetings with representatives of the state institutions, which the Muslim Denomination in Bulgaria initiated during the last month. They all are related to the adopted at first reading on October 11 this year amendments to the Law on the Religious Denominations.

We would like to recall that the Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria besides the President Rumen Radev held official meetings also with the Prime MinisterBoyko Borisov, with theMinster of EducationKrasimir Valchev and withrepresentativesof different diplomatic missionsin our country.
