The results of the Campaign in Support of the Islamic Education were examined at a meeting of the Council of Muftis

A meeting of the Council of Muftis took place on October 18 and 19, 2018 where one of the focuses was the presentation of a report from the Department on Education at Grand Mufti’s Office on the held Campaign in Support of the Islamic Education 2018.

The report included an analysis and statistics of the campaign by years.

According to the information from the present Head of the Department on Education Amir Feleti, in 2006 when the initiative was held for a first time, the raised funds were 13 000 BGN. Only 12 years later the results are nearly 25 times better.

“In the framework of this year’s campaign, which took place in the period May 15 – June 16, a total amount of 323 415.52 BGNwas raised. It is a fact that only for the last one year, from 2017 to 2018, the growth is 15,9 %. And everything this is a proof that the commitment and the trust of the Muslims to the campaign increase with the time”. - further said for Grandmufti.bg Amir Feleti.

Within the held some days ago meeting of the Council of Muftis were presented letters of gratitude to the participants from the regional mufti’s offices and also plaques of gratitude. All Muslim Boards of Trustees in our country which managed to raise more than 100 BGN in the framework of the initiative in support to the Islamic education were awarded. Plaques of gratitude received also the regional mufti’s offices which were most active in the campaign.

“At first place for raised funds in the campaign “Month for Support of the Islamic Education” this year is Regional Mufti’s Office – Smolyan with a total amount of 61 874.62 BGN. At second place is Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad with 40 243.35 BGN raised funds, at third – Regional Mufti’s Office - Pazardzhik with 33 199.00 BGN raised funds, and at fourth place is Regional Mufti’s Office – Sofia with total amount of 31 996.02 BGN” – added the Head of the Department of Education at Grand Mufti’s Office.

 The Campaign “Month for Support of the Islamic Education” is traditionally held for years, starting for a first time in 2006. All funds raised within it are entirely spent on the needs in the field of the Islamic education in Bulgaria, including for expanding and development of the Qur’an courses on the territory of the entire country, for providing scholarships for school pupils and students, for increasing the quality of the religious education of the children in the state’s schools, for funding the activities of the religious schools in our country, organization of training courses and workshops  for the teachers and the students in them, for publishing activities – preparing and publishing up-to-date educational literature and others.

The Department on Education provided a detailed report on the donations within the campaign “Month for Support of the Islamic Education” 2018 in a supplement at the 10^th issue of “Muslims” magazine. The Department on Education also expresses its gratitude to all who joined the held initiative.
