Historians from Bulgaria and the United States visited Regional Mufti’s Office – Ruse
Teodora Bakardzhieva – Curator at the “History of Bulgaria 15th-19th century”Department at the Historical Museum of Ruse (RHM) and Dr. Jane Hathaway – professor in Islamic and world history in the Department of History at the Ohio State University, USA, visited Regional Mufti’s Office – Ruse on September 11, 2018 (Tuesday).
“During the visit we talked about the historical past of the city of Ruse during the Ottoman period. The visit was initiated by Teodora Bakardzhieva and was on the occasion of the visit of Dr. Jane Hathaway in the city of Ruse. After the meeting in the mufti’s office we visited together the “Mirza Seid Pasha” mosque” – said for Grandmufti.bg the Regional Mufti of Ruse Yudzhel Hyusnyu.
Dr. Hathaway who is currently on a visit to Bulgaria, is US historian, specialized History of the Ottoman Empire before 19th century. She is an author of nine historical books in total, and published numerous articles on different topics. Dr. Jane Hathaway is a member of the Board of Directors of the Middle East Studies Association of North America. She carries out courses on different topics - the Ottoman provinces within the Ottoman Empire, life of the Jewish communities under Islamic rule, early Islamic society and many others fields of history.
Before leaving after the visit both the parties expressed their satisfaction with the held meeting and promised the joint meetings to continue also in the future.
