Nine winners at the XII National Competition in Basic Knowledge in Islam

The XII National Competition in Basic Knowledge in Islam took place on September 8 and 9, 2018 in Momchilgrad. This year it was organized by a team headed by Halil Hodzhov – Head of Irshad Department at Grand Mufti’s Office. Besides experts from Irshad Department the organizational team also included experts from the Departments on Education and Media and Culture.

The essential part of the competition in which the winners, who completed the summer Qur’an courses this yearand were ranked at the first places at the regional competitions in the country participated, took place at the base of Religious School – Momchilgrad on September 8 (Saturday).

The program was officially opened with reading of verses from the Holy Qur’an and by welcoming addresses made to all guests by the Regional Mufti of Kardzhali Beyhan Mehmed. Welcoming address was also delivered by Metin Akbaş – Social Affairs Attaché at the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria. The event was also attended by the Grand Mufti of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, by regional muftis from the entire country, by directors of the religious schools in Bulgaria, as well as by a representative of the local authorities in Momchilgrad.

The competitors, who presented different regional mufti’s offices from the entire Bulgaria, passed through written and oral test and the results were assessed by a jury chaired by Dr. Ahmed Lyutov and with members Orhan Osman and Sami Fazliyski – teachers in the Religious School – Momchilgrad.

During the second day of the program, Sunday, in the library club of Momchilgrad “New Life” took place the official awarding ceremony of the finalists. They were 9 – all winners in the relevant all four categories, in which they competed. And their names are as follows:

1^st level:

Fatme Kyoybashieva – RMO Blagoevgrad (7-10 years)

Unka Vlaknova– RMO – Pazardzhik (11-13 years)

Osman Mehmed – RMO - Aytos (14-17 years)

2^nd level:

Tahir Kapo – RMO – Blagoevgrad (7-10 years)

Salih Dzhihan – RMO – Pazardzhik (11-13 years)

Nevse Mehmed– RMO - Aytos (14-17 years)

3^rd level:

Bedri Bedriev – RMO - Smolyan (11-13 years)

Ahmed Shalganov – RMO – Smolyan (14-17 years)

4^th level:

Nayle Mulaismail – RMO - Blagoevgrad (14-17 years)

All finalists of the XII National Competition in Basic Knowledge in Islam received on behalf of Grand Mufti’s Office in Bulgaria certificates, plaques of gratitude; 100 leva cash prize for each of them, as well as gift packages with school supplies and books from the publications of Grand Mufti’s Office. The awarded young Muslims received also cash prizes by other donors and Regional Mufti’s Office – Kardzhali surprised them with gifts as well.

The National Competition in Basic Knowledge in Islam 2018 was closed with a final speech and with the dua (supplication) by the leader of the Muslims in Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi.
