Just few days till the National Competition for Memorization and Artistic Reading of the Holy Qur’an 2018 in Madan

We are just few days away from one of the major events in the religious life of the Muslim community in Bulgaria – this year’s National Competition for Memorization and Artistic Reading of the Holy Qur’an. It will take place on August 10, 2018 from 11:30 o’clock in the Rhodope town of Madan, where is also the only training school for hafizes (Qur’an memorizers) in Bulgaria. Before the final round on August 10, on August 8 and 9 the preliminary competing rounds for the participants will take place. The total number of all competitors is 43 – 30 men and 13 women and for the women there will be female jury.

The event will be held in 6 categories:

Juz’ (part) “Amma” by heart for participants up to 15 years old;

Juz’ (part) “Amma” by heart for participants from 15 up to 40 years old;

5 ajza (parts) by heart;

15 ajza (parts) by heart;

The entire Holy Qur’an by heart (30 ajza);

Artistic reading of the Holy Qur’an

Children and youths up to 15 years old will have the opportunity to compete only in one of the categories – for memorization of Juz’ “Amma”.

The National Competition for Memorization and Artistic Reading of the Holy Qur’an has been organized by the Muslim Denomination in Bulgaria for years. It is traditionally held every two calendar years. On august 10 this year will take place the 11^th edition of the competition, organized by Grand Mufti’s Office in cooperation with Regional Mufti’s Office – Smolyan and the Muslim Board of Trustees – Madan.

For everyone who is interested in the event but will not be able to be present in Madan on August 10, the event will be broadcasted live on the YouTube channel of the Muslim Denomination on Internet.
