Thousands of Muslims gathered at the traditional qurban in the “Yedikazlar” mosque

 

For another year the mosque “The Seven Girls” in the village of Podkova gathered thousands of Muslims from the country and abroad at the annual qurban, which is traditionally held on May 6.

The religious event this year in the unique of its kind wooden mosque in the village of Podkova was attended by 3000 guests – from the host-village, from the surrounding settlements, from different places of the country and from abroad.

Among the official guests of the event were the Regional Mufti of Kardzhali Beyhan Mehmed, the Deputy Mufti Nasuf Halil, the Mayor of the Municipality of Kardzhali Eng. Hasan Azis, accompanied by other representatives of the municipal administration of Kardzhali, as well as representatives of the municipal administration of Kirkovo, also a number of MPs and public figures. There also participated guests from Greece and Turkey.

The program of the traditional qurban included reading of the Qur’an-i Kerim and of Mawlid-i Sherif. The Regional Mufti of Kardzahi Beyhan Mehmed delivered a lecture related to the coming of the Holy Month of Ramadan, dimensions of allowed and forbidden, also about the importance of the good relations between children and parents and of the good neighborliness. In addition to that the lecturer had the opportunity to introduce the several-thousand audience to some of the main campaigns of the Muslim Denomination during the recent years, including the campaign in support of the Islamic education, Hajj and Umrah, visit Masjid al  Aqsa, Orphans’ week, the subscription campaign for “Muslims” magazine,  the summer Qur’an course, etc.

 

By a long-established tradition the qurban in the mosque “Yedikazlar” in the village of Podkova included treat of all participant with qurban – traditional pilaf (rice) with meat.
