Imams from the region of Veliko Tarnovo held their February meeting in Kilifarevo

The imams working at Regional Mufti’s Office – Veliko Tarnovo met on February 20, 2018 for a regular monthly meeting in the town of Kilifarevo.

They were welcomed with gratitude for responding to the invitation by the Regional Mufti of Veliko Tarnovo Syuleyman Masurev. He informed the participants about the agenda of the meeting and also officially presented to them the newly-arrived from Turkey guest-imam Nuri Aksoy, who will be on a several-months expert exchange in the mosque of Veliko Tarnovo.

Among the discussed during the meeting issues were those about the function and the importance of the Muslim boards of trustees. On the occasion of the upcoming trip to the Holy Places – Umrah 2018, organized by Grand Mufti’s Office, it was found out that currently there is only one candidate from the region of Veliko Tarnovo, where the Muslim population is nearly 35 000 people. With regard to this the imams were urged to work more actively for the promotion of the campaigns of the Muslim Denomination.

“We decided to hold our February meeting exactly in the town of Kilifarevo, because our colleagues there, and also the Muslim community as a whole are quite active and they can always be a positive example in the work of every one of us.” – said for Grandmufti.bg the Secretary at Regional Mufti’s Office – Veliko Tarnovo Yashar Mehmedov. – “The Muslims in the town raise funds for the maintenance and the strengthening the building of their mosque which has a history of 120 years. The Chairman of the local Board of Trustees Ali Karailiev shared that on March 1, will be made the first step for building a minaret to the Muslim prayer house in Kilifarevo.” – further added Mehmedov.

The meeting ended with a lunch for all participants, provided by the Mosque’s Board of Trustees – Kilifarevo.
