“Coffee of Tolerance” for a fourth consecutive year in Plovdiv

 

For a fourth consecutive year the initiative of Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv “Coffee of Tolerance” brought together representatives of different religions, ethnicities and nationalities. The event this year took place on February 14, from 11:30 o’clock in “Dzhumaya mosque” in the center of Plovdiv.

The meeting was attended by the Grand Mufti of the Muslim sin the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the Regional Mufti of Haskovo Basri Eminefendi and other representatives of the Muslim Denomination. The event was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Sofia Dr. Hasan Ulusoy, Dr. Ulvi Ata – Social affairs attaché, Şenol Genç – attaché on educational affairs in the Embassy of turkey in Bulgaria and Huseyin Ergani – Consul General of Turkey in Plovdiv.

The Chairwoman of the Municipal Council Savina Petkova and the Deputy Mayor on “Public order and security” Georgi Marinov also had a coffee of tolerance as representatives of the local authorities. In the meeting took part also representatives of different religious and ethnic communities.

The guests were welcomed by the host Taner Veli – Regional Mufti of Plovdiv, who in is address to all of them focused on that Plovdiv is a city of tolerance. And the initiative “Coffee of Tolerance” just proves this fact – that in peace and understanding representatives of different religions, ethnicities and nationalities can sit at one table, speak in a common language, for a cup of coffee of tolerance, further added Veli.

The official meeting for peace and tolerance is organized every year by the Mufti’s Office in Plovdiv and the aim is to mark the anniversary of the vandal attack towards “Dzhumaya mosque”, committed on February 14, 2014.
