Scientific forum “Sacred places for the Muslims in Bulgaria”
On 19th of October, Thursday, as a part of the initiative “Mosques’ Week”, organized by Grand Mufti’s Office took place the scientific forum on the topic “Sacred places for the Muslims in Bulgaria”.
The organizers of the forum have taken the view that it should be spoken a lot on the topic about the sacred for the Muslims places. Because “Where there is not a proper interpretation of religion its place is occupied by superstition” said the moderator of the forum, the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Birali.
The participants in the forum are well-known lecturers from BAS, HII, who had made field studies on the topics on which they are writing. Assoc. Prof. Mila Maeva delivered a report on the topic “Religion, migration and identity”, Assoc. prof. Evgeniya Troeva spoke on the functioning of the sacred place in a ethnological perspective with the example of the türbe (tomb) of Enihan baba; Dr. Iva Kyurkchieva presented her report on the sacred places in the village of Sini rid, Ruse region; the SMC Chairman Vedat Ahmed delivered a report on the waqf and sacred places. The lecturer from HII Aydan Yumerov presented his report on the mevlevihane in the city of Plovdiv; Dr. Emine Bayraktarova spoke on the topic related to the Muslim graveyards and presented the example with the Muslim cemetery in Sofia, Orlandovtsi quarter; the ethnologist Dr. Yelis Erolova presented her report on the topic “Disallowed practices at some sacred places in Bulgaria” and Dr. Sefer Hasanov from HII spoke on the concept of sacredness from Islamic point of view.
