Lecturers from the High Islamic Institute presented Bulgaria at the International Conference “Islamic Education in Europe”

Within the period from 14th to 16th of September, 2017 in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo was held an international conference on the topic: “Islamic Education in Europe”. The academic event was organized on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Islamic Studies of the University of Sarajevo. Organizers were the Faculty of Islamic Studies, the Center for Advanced Studies and others.

The conference was also attended by the lecturers from the High Islamic University (HII) in Sofia Dr. Sefer Hasanov and Dr. Arif Abdullah, who is also a Head of the Research Center at HII.

The three-day academic meeting was held in 8 panels in total, within which were presented reports by scientists, researchers, educators and other concerned by the topic people from 12 countries in total (USA, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Turkey, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina).

The participants discussed the problems, the challenges and the potential of the Islamic education in Europe. It was payed attention to the status of the Islamic education in the state educational institutions as well as the forms of formal and informal Islamic education in Europe. There were made proposals for innovations in the educational processes within the religious Islamic education in Europe.
