Christians in Jerusalem declare their support to Masjid Al-Aqsa

Certainly, most of people who during the recent ten days follow what is happening in Jerusalem, came across the photo with the young Christian with a cross draped around his neck and a Bible in hands, who stays beside to the Muslims during the Friday prayer in the Palestinian neighborhood Wadi al-Joz. This is his way to join the protest of the thousands of people in Palestine against the restricted on behalf of Israel access to Masjid Al-Aqsa and to express support to the Palestinian people.

The photo which is taken by CNN is published first in a local media, and after that widely spread on the social networks where circulated for days.

But in fact the young Christian, whose name is already known - Nidal Aboud, is not an exception at all on the background of the entire Christian community in Palestine. Just the opposite. On Sunday the churches in Bethlehem were closed and the Christian religious institutions urged the Christians to go for prayer to the mosques where to be together with their Muslim brothers and to express their solidarity with them.

In addition to this the leaders of all Christian institutions in Jerusalem announced a general declaration in which they condemn the measures of Israel for restricting the access for the Muslims to Masjid AL-Aqsa. In it they insist to preserve and maintain the historical status quo of the Muslim temple.
