Dear Muslim brothers and sisters,

The month of Shaban is the herald of Ramadan. During this month Muhammad (pbuh) used to preserve most supererogatory (nafl) fast, which once again shows the importance of the worshiping during these days. During this month the Muslims prepare to meet the month of Ramadan and this preparation includes doing different good deeds. The joy of Ramadan begins with the beginning of the three sacred months, but it quite expressed during the month of Shaban because it is the herald of Ramadan.

Something more specific in this month is the Night of Bara’at, which is the fifteenth night of the month of Shaban. According to a hadith in this night the Almighty Allah forgive the wrongdoings of everyone who turns to Him and ask for forgiveness. Figuratively speaking Muslims want to meet the month of Ramadan cleansed of wrongdoings and this chance is given them during the Night of Bara’at. That is why Muslims are devoted to worshipping during the Night of Bara’at and do this till the morning.

Let us not miss the opportunity for worshipping during the night of the fifteenth day of the month of Shaban. Doing good deeds during that time is an opportunity which benefits all who expect award from Allah. May Allah accept the worshipping of everyone and give us the possibility to meet the month of Ramadan which is the most excellent that all other times.
