Workshop on “Social responsibility of the Muslim” was held by Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad

On 5th of February (Sunday) was held a one-day religious workshop, organized by Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad. It took place in the conference hall at the mosque in the village of Satovcha. The topic of the workshop was “Social responsibility of the Muslim” and it was attended by more than 100 men and women from the municipality of Satovcha.

The event was organized and held in three panels and each of them was on a different topic and speaker. The hour-long panels ended with 30-minute discussions.

The first panel of the event was held with a speaker Aydan Mohamed – Regional Mufti of Blagoevgrad. In the framework of the first part of the workshop the Mufti informed the participants about the social activities of the Regional Mufti’s Office during year 2016 as well as with the planned activities and projects during the present year 2017. It was focused on the seemingly small at first glance, but extremely important for the community issues. There was highlighted the role of the local Muslims for the successful implementation of the social activities and projects of Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad. One of the discussed social proposals was the Muslims from the larger settlements to participate solidarity in the life of those from the neighboring smaller settlement. For example the people from the settlements where there is more numerous Muslim population to unite and to support the social and the religious life of their brothers from the smaller settlements – for carrying out the Qur’an courses, for maintenance of the mosques, helping people from vulnerable groups – widows, orphans, sick people, elderly and others.

The second panel from the held workshop was moderated by Dr. Rafat Hodzha. He spoke to the gathered audience on the topic “Social policy of the county”. The participants in the event were informed about the different state structures, projects and services working in service of the population, among which the directorates “Social assistance”, “Employment bureau” and others.

During the discussion held after the second panel of the workshop the Muslims discussed how the Muslim Denomination as an institution and the individual Muslims to assist for filling the gaps in the social assistance.

The last third panel from the Sunday workshop in Satovcha was dedicated to the topic “Social responsibility of the Muslim through the prism of Islam”. It was presented by the Deputy Grand Mufti of Bulgaria and present Chairman of the Committee on Social Activities at the Supreme Muslim Council Birali Myumyun. In the framework of the third part of the event the participants were informed about the social activities of the Denomination, its present and future projects in the social field. During the followed 30-minute discussion were discussed many and various ideas for social support among the Muslims, one of which caused particular interest on behalf of the participants – establishment of a kind of food banks at the mosques in the settlements. The idea met a great appreciation among the participants and we expect to take place in nearest time. It will help us to limit the waste of fit for consumption food and most of all to decrease the number of the starving or the people in need.
