Tenth national competition for memorizing and artistic reading of the Holy Qur’an was held in the town of Madan

 

On 11th and 12th of August, 2016 the town of Madan hosted the Tenth national competition for memorizing and artistic reading of the Holy Qur’an, organized by Grand Mufti’s Office of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria with the cooperation of Regional Mufti’s Office – Smolyan and Muslim Board of Trustees of the town of Madan. 38 participants from the entire country took part in the competition and passed a preliminary round in five categories and for the finals were qualified 17 of them. The new in this year’s competition was that there were also participating women in the category “artistic reading”. The finals of the competition took place on 12th of August, 2016 in the central mosque of the town of Madan.

Official guests of this great forum were the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the deputy grand muftis Birali Myumyun and Ahmed Hasanov, the regional muftis of Sofia, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Shumen, Razgrad, Silistra, Varna, Dobrich, Kardzhali and Haskovo, as well as the regional muftis of Komotini and Xanthi, Greece, Ibrahim Sherif and Ahmed Mete. The event was also attended by representatives of the diplomatic missions of Palestine, Pakistan and Morocco, the social affairs attaché at the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in the city of Plovdiv Metin Akbaş and the Mayor of Municipality of Madan Fahri Molaysenov.

The jury which had the difficult task to assess the young talents consisted of three members: Hafiz Neshat Teshkan – imam in the city of Plovdiv, hafiz Yumer Ali Yuzier – imam in the city of Varna and hafiz Abdullah Dursun – imam in the city of Ruse, and a spokesman of the jury was hafiz Shefket Hadzhi – director of the Course for hafizes in the town of Madan.

In every round the participants in the relevant category demonstrated their knowledge and skills in memorizing the Holy Qur’an and its melodic reading. With the recitation of the Words of Allah the competitors touched the hearts of the audience who became living witnesses to promise from the Almighty Allah to preserve His Book through its memorization.

The most interesting category was that of memorizing the entire Qur’an. After drawing the questions each of the finalists had to recite by heart three random parts of the Qur’an. In this way the jury qualified in the category “Entire Qur’an” as the best hafiz the 16-years old Abdullah Hasan from the town of Madan; at second and third place were ranked respectively Abdullah Afuzof and Adem Mehmed also from Madan. The three finalists completed the course for hafizes in the town of Madan.

The first place in the category “15 ajiza” (half of the Qur’an) took Ibrahim Kambach from the village of Breznitsa. In the category “5 ajiza” (100 pages) at first place was ranked Abdurrahman Ushev from the town of Madan. The winner in the category “Juz Amme” to the age of 40 (the last part of the Qur’an) became Adem Musa from the village of Maglen, Municipality of Aytos. In the same category to the age of 15 at first place was ranked Shaban Kalyov from the village of Breznitsa. And in category “Artistic reading” the first place was taken by Hyusein Kamberov from the village of Dolen, Municipality of Zlatograd.

 

The Regional Mufti of Smolyan and a host of the competition Nedzhmi Dabov welcomed the self-confidence shown from the participants to take part in this great forum reciting the Words of the Almighty Allah. He said that the attendees manifest their moral support for the participants in the event. He also welcomed the initiative the women to debut their participation in the jubilee tenth national competition and called in the next one the number of the participating women to multiply. The Mufti recalled also the general message of the Qur’an and namely that the Almighty Allah revealed His last Message for the entire humanity to bring peace, happiness, tranquility, prosperity and safety.

The Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi in his speech said that this which in the present day has brought together so many people at one place, is the Word of the Almighty Allah. He greeted the participants for their courage to participate, their parents for the support which they gave them, and the teachers for the patience which they showed in teaching the Qur’an.

According to the ranking the winners were awarded with material and cash prizes, plaques and certificates provided by Grand Mufti’s Office, the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv and other donors. Awards were also given to all participants who were not qualified for the final round. And hafiz Murad Hadzhi who is a founder of the Course for hafizes in the town of Madan handed the awards of the jury.
