Regional Mufti of Kardzhali joined the celebration of the Day of Ashura in the village of Bivolyane

At the invitation of the Muslim Board of trustees – village of Bivolyane, the Regional Mufti of Kardzhali Beyhan Mehmed took part in the official program on the occasion of the Day of Ashura. The celebration was organized in the religious-rituals complex near Bivolyane.
The event was attended by hundreds of people from the surroundings. Official guests were the Mayor of municipality of Momchilgrad Akif Akif, the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv Alper Aktaş, the Regional Mufti of Krumovgrad Nasuf Halil and MPs from the region.
The guests saw the renovated in 2011 unique religious complex, which consists of a mosque, a madrasa (religious school) and türbes (tombs) of religious people. The Regional Mufti Beyhan Mehmed told the attendees the story of marking the Ashura Day, he also gave information since when this day is celebrated and that the word “ashura” in Arabic means “ten”.
The Day of Ashura is the tenth day of the month of Muharram.
