Muslims and Christians celebrated together the Day of Ashura in Kardzhali
Muslims and Christians ate together ashure at the market in Kardzhali for 11th consecutive year. The initiative is of the Mayor of the city in Rhodope Mountain Hasan Azis and his colleague Mustafa Dündar, Mayor of the Municipality of Osmangazi, Bursa province, Turkey.
Turks, Bulgarians and Greeks received a bowl of ashure, which is given on the Muslim holiday of the same name. The sweet dish plays an Old Testament legend according to which at the end of the flood Noah gathered and cooked all products which remained in Noah’s ark. During the celebration were condemned the attacks in France.
“Let the participants in this terrible attack receive their revenge by the law. We, the residents of Kardzhali, categorically declare that we are against such acts of terrorism which unfortunately during the recent months are a part of our reality”, said Eng. Azis.
“Humaneness is our weapon against terrorism”, said the parish priest of Kardzhali Father Petar Garena. He was supported in his statement by the Mufti Beyhan Mehmed.
“If you case the death of one person, it would be as if you killed all mankind. He, who kills one, kills all”, said the Muslim cleric.
