Day of Ashura was marked in Shumen
The Day of Ashurawas solemnly markedon 23rdof October, 2015 (Friday) in the mosque “Sherif Halil Pasha” in the city of Shumen. The celebration is based on a very old tradition. Historically during the holy month of Muharram happened many important historical events but one of the most significant for Islam is the story in Karbala. On the tenth day of the month of Muharram in Hijri year 61 the grandson of Muhammad (pbuh) Hussain along with other 70 people was killed in the cruelest way.
On the occasion of this the Day of Ashura was marked in Shumen. With recitation of Qur’an, mawlid and supplication (dua) was honored the memory of the shahids (martyrs) in the story in Karbala and of all shehids who gave their life for their faith, for justice and morality.
