During their stay in Mecca for pilgrimage the Bulgarian pilgrims visited one of the most important places in the Islamic history – the site of Hudaybiyyah, located about 25 km far from Mecca.
It is famous with signing the peace treaty between the pagans from Mecca and the Muslims from Medina led by Muhammad (pbuh). The treaty was signed in year 628 in the site of Hudaybiyyah and thus became famous with the same name.
The truce was concluded for ten years and at first glance it seemed to be to the detriment of the Muslims, but later on it became clear that it is one of the important strategic moves of the Muslim community. Because with this act the pagans officially recognized the existence of the Muslim society as a legal entity and a state. Furthermore this facilitated the conquest of Mecca in the years that followed.
The visit in the site was made on 9th of October. The pilgrims were able to see the remains of the historical mosque, which was built at the place where the treaty was concluded. Beside this the visitors dressed there their special clothes (ihram) in order to perform additional pilgrimage of Umrah, as the site is out of the boundaries of the sacred area (harem) and provides the possibility for the pilgrims to cover with ihram and to perform Umrah.
