Regional Mufti’s Office – Razgrad held the 15^th Regional Competition in Basic Knowledge in Islam on September 1, 2020 (Tuesday) in the “Ahmed bey” mosque in the town. Eager children from the entire Razgrad district, who were awaiting this day all the summer, arrived in Razgrad early in the morning in order to compete with their knowledge about their religion, acquired during the summer holiday in the Qur’an courses. this year in the competition participated representatives from 14 Qur’an courses, where they competed individually. The competition was held in three rounds: First round – questionnaire, Second round: recitation by heart of the short chapters of the Qur’an and dua (supplications). And the third round – itiqat (faith), ibadet (worship), Sirah (life of the prophet Muhammad (pbah)) and ahlaq (ethics) in which the children showed their knowledge. The competition was opened with recitation of verses of the Holy Qur’an from Mr. Ibrahim Topuz – guest-imam from the Republic of Turkey. At the beginning of the competition the Regional Mufti of Razgrad region, Mehmed Alya, welcomed all attending teachers, guests and children, wished the participants success, and thanked their teachers for their efforts and their responsible role in the education of the young Muslims. A guest of the event was Mr. Halil Hodzhov – Head of “Irshad” Department at Grand Mufti’s Office, who in his speech forwarded greeting on behalf of the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, and thanked all teachers and students. The difficult task to select the best one had the jury in the following composition: Chairman: Rahim Beyzat – imam of the village of Dyankovo, and members: Elman Ehlimanov – imam of the big mosque in the village of Brestovene, and Gyunel Mehmed – imam of the village of Yasenovets. Presenter of the competition was Sunya Zyulkyar - imam of the village of Zavet. All participants performed very well, and the representatives from the Qur’an courses, who participated for a first time in these competitions, have to be distinguished. But like every competition this also had to show the best prepared team, and these were the children from the Qur’an course in the village of Tochilari – Gamze Hasan at first place with 160 points, a second place ranked Fatma Ibrahimova from the Qur’an course in the village of Trapishte with 141 points, and the thirs place was for Ayshe Fetuh from the Qur’an course in the village of Podayva with 134 points. The awards included tablets, student bags and appliances. There was also a special competition for expressive recitation of small and big chapters and a page of the Qur’an, and the assessor in this category was Mr. Halil Hodzhov. This special part of the competition won Fatma Ibrahimova from the Village of Trapishte, who won also the special award – sports bicycle. There were also spots competitions. The program ended with a dua (supplication) and lunch for all attendees.
