On July 15 (Wednesday), 2020 Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Burgas hosted a commemorative event on the 4^th anniversary of the attempted military coup in the Republic of Turkey on July 15, 2016 – the date which later on was declared as the Democracy and National Unity Day.

On behalf of Grand Mufti’s Office, the event was attended by the regional muftis of Varna, Aytos, Razgrad Ruse, Silistra, Sliven, Targovishte and Shumen. In the official commemorative program which included official speeches and a presentation of the historical retrospective of the events from the tragic night, also participated representatives of different cultural associations and organizations from Northeast Bulgaria.

Commemorative programs on the occasion of the anniversary of ate attempted military coup in neighboring Turkey were held also in the other Turkish diplomatic representations in our country.

At the invitation of the Regional Mufti of Aytos Selyatin Muharem after the end of the event, held in the city of Burgas, the participating regional muftis met at an informal working meeting where were discussed different topics related to their work.
