Grand Mufti’s Office of the Muslim Denomination in the Republic of Bulgaria informs our Muslim community that at a meeting, held through internet connection on April 14 (Tuesday), 2020, were made the following decisions:

1. The nisab (the amount a Muslim's net worth must exceed for them to be obligated to give zakat) for zakah, which is going to be given during the month of Ramadan in year 2020 is 6600.00 (six thousand and six hundred) BGN.

2. The fitrah (sadaqat-al-fitr) for year 2020 is at least 6 (six) BGN per person.

3. The amount of the sadaqat-al-fitr and the nisab for zakah which must be considered by the Muslims - Bulgarian citizens, living or working in European or other countries, is the determined by the authorized religious institutions or organizations in the relevant country. This must be observed even if the fitrah or the zakah are given in Bulgaria, no matter if the people give it by themselves or through and authorized person.

The calculations, indicated above, are based on the decisions of the Fatwa Committee made on August 15, 2009, by which they indicate the way for defining the amount of nisab for zakat and fitrah.
