Regional Mufti’s Office – Smolyan hosted this year’s first meeting of the Committee on the organization of the National Competition for Artistic Reading and Memorization of the Holy Qur’an. It took place in Smolyan on March 10 (Tuesday) and, as usual, the focus of the working meeting was on the organization of the XII National Competition for Artistic Reading and Memorization of the Qur’an, which takes place in our country every two years.

During the meeting were addressed the remarks from the last competition, held in 2018. The participates in the meeting decided that the event this year will take place at the end of July 2020, and following the established tradition a host will be the town of Madan. Like so far, the regulation will include the participation of both men and women, who will have the possibility to compete in the category “Artistic reading of the Holy Qur’an” and “Memorization of the Qur’an” - respectively of 1 juz, 5 ajza, 15 ajza, and of the entire Qur’an. All preliminary rounds of the competition, as well as its main part, will take place in Central mosque – town of Madan.

“Among the decisions made during the meeting was the regional mufti’s offices in our country to have an active role in the organization and selecting the participants for this year’s competitive event. They will have the possibility to select internally their representatives in the event. So that in order to participate in the National Competition for Artistic Reading and Memorization of the Holy Qur’an”, each of the participants have to be approved by the relevant regional mufti’s office” – the Deputy Grand Mufti and a Chairman of the Committee on the organization of the national competition for Qur’an memorizers - Birali Birali, said for Grandmufti.bg after the held working meeting.

The National Competition for Memorization and Artistic Reading of the Holy Qur’an is organized by the Muslim Denomination in Bulgaria already for a number of years. Traditionally it takes place every two calendar years and is organized in cooperation between the departments of Grand Mufti’s Office “Media and Culture” and “Irshad”, as well as with the irreplaceable help of Regional Mufti’s Office – Smolyan, the Training Course for Hafizes “Hafiz Murad Hadzhi” – town of Madan, and Muslim Board of Trustees – Madan.
