At the invitation of the Mayor of the Municipality of Varna Ivan Portnih on February 19 (Wednesday) this year the Regional Mufti of Varna attended the commemorative event in the maritime capital, dedicated to the 147 years since the death of the Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski. Shukri was accompanied by the secretary of the mufti’s office in Varna Fahredin Mollamehmed.
Among the official guests of the event were also representatives of the municipal administration, honorary consuls of states from all over the world, MPs, representatives of students’ institutions and hundreds of citizens from Varna.
The program of the commemorative event began at 10:00 o’clock with laying wreaths and flowers to the relief of Vasil Levski in Levski quarter in Varna. A little later in front of the monument of the Apostle of Freedom in the Sea Garden a city-wide Memorial service took place, commemorative prayer was read and with the participation of the Naval Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria was performed a military ritual with laying wreaths and flowers.
