Important and current issues were discussed during the first for 2020 meeting of the Council of Muftis
Under the chairmanship of the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi on January 21, 2020 in the capital was held the first working meeting of the Council of Muftis for the new year, 2020. It was attended by the representatives of the management of the Muslim Denomination as well as the members of the Council – the regional muftis of all 20 regional mufti’s offices in our country and the deputy muftis in the regions. Honorary guest of the working meeting was the Chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council (SMC) Vedat Ahmed.
During the meeting were discussed important and current for the present year topics and issues, related to the activities of the regional mufti’s offices and of the Denomination in general. This included the introduction of a new template “Certificate for niqah” in order to elaborate a better register and a better quality service for the Muslim community regarding the marriage matters. Furthermore, there was discussed the idea for the introduction of the so called “Control book” at the mosques in the country with which to keep records of the work of the imams, the activities of the mosques’ boards of trustees and as a whole to keep clearer chronology of the life of the Muslim communities in the relevant settlements.
During the working meeting were presented also the results of the held at the end of 2019 campaign for orphans. More than 300 000.00 BGN were raised during the initiative at a national level and this amount is expected to the submitted to “Orphans” Fund. This is a record high amount for all the years since the campaign started.
“The results of the campaign in support of the children without parents in our country in 2019 show an increase of 50 000.00 BGN compared to the results of the campaign one year earlier. This will give a possibility more orphaned children to benefit from this project.” – commented on the topic the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Myumyun Birali, who is in charge of the social activities of the Muslim Denomination.
The participants in the meeting also discussed the preparation of the upcoming month of Ramadan, as well as the possibility to organize different in format educational events and initiatives – lectures, discussions and other similar events, which will contribute to the preparation of the Muslim community, in order to take a full advantage of the graceful month.
The agenda of the regular meeting of the Council of Muftis also included different administrative issues such as updating of the price list for the different religious rites, the appointment and dismissal procedure of the imams and others. Besides that, there were discussed the topics about teaching “Islamic religion” in the state and municipal schools as well as the campaigns for recruiting students to study in the Republic of Turkey and candidates to attend the Training school for imams in the village of Ustina, Plovdiv region.
The meeting was closed with wishes for successful and fruitful official affairs during the present year, 2020.
