For seventh consecutive year the Muslim Denomination runs the national social campaign “Orphans’ Week”

The Muslim Denomination officially launches the beginning of the seventh consecutive edition of the national campaign “Orphans’ Week”. The social initiative will be held within the period from November 25 till December 1, 2019 under the title “Be a Guardian”.

The activities aimed at supporting orphans is a priority field in the social activities of the Muslim Denomination in our country. Since the beginning of the campaign in 2013, till nowadays the number of the orphans who receive monthly aid, has reached 322. Among the successes of the initiative is also the fact that since the beginning of the current year, 2019, the amount of the monthly aid which each of these 322 children receive, was increased from 50 BGN to 60 BGN. In this way the annual social assistance for one child on behalf of the Muslim Denomination in Bulgaria is 720 BGN.

Like every year the major contribution to raising the necessary funds for supporting the children without parents, is exactly during the National Campaign “Orphans Week”.

“During the last held campaign “Orphans’ Week” in 2018 in Orphans Fund was raised the total amount of 241 699.31 BGN, which was almost entirely from donations made in our country. For this purpose, through the regional mufti’s offices in the country we disseminated information materials as well as donation boxes for collecting funds, as well as charity postcards for sale at the price of 1 BGN” – said the expert from Social Department Dzhefer Isov.

“Every passing year the national initiative of the Muslim Denomination in support of the orphans achieves even greater success. I do believe that this year’s edition also will pass in this spirit. For example, in 2013 we started by supporting just 7 orphans, and today their number is 322. In a greater amount is also the received monthly aid. Everything this is possible thanks to the active participation of the Muslims in the social initiative.” – further added Isov.

He recalled that this year, as usual, donations for the initiative can be made in the mosques at all 20 regional mufti’s offices in the country, in the mufti’s offices, and also through money transfers to the bank account of the Muslim Denomination.

“All donated funds will be spent from the Muslim Denomination entirely for the benefit of the orphaned children. For security reasons we ask the donors not to trust and not to give money to third parties due to risk of abuse.” – Dzhefer Isof also called.
