Representatives of the Jewish community visited Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv
Representatives of the Jewish community in Plovdiv visited the regional mufti’s office there. The meeting took place in November 5 (Tuesday), 2019 in “Dzhumaya” mosque in the city center of Plovdiv. The guests were welcomed by the Regional Mufti Taner Veli and the Chairman of the local Muslim Board of Trustees Ahmed Pehlivan. During the meeting the two parties discussed various topics related to the peaceful co-existence between the different faith groups in the city under the hills.
“The sad memory of the attack against the mosque in 2014 also had its place in the conversation, but the focus was on the positive sides of the coexistence of the different ethnic and religious groups – convergence of the minorities, sharing emotions during the different religious holidays and the participation of everyone in the official national Bulgarian holidays. All these things and their role for choosing Plovdiv as a European Capital of Culture 2019 also were part of the discussions during the official meeting” – commented for Grandmufti.bg from Regional Mufti’s office – Plovdiv.
