Regional competition in Hitabet took place in Shumen

On October 21 (Monday), 2019 in the mosque “Sherif Halil Pasha” in the city of Shumen took place a regional competition in Hitabet (delivering sermon). Eight imam-khatibs from the region participated in it.

The competition began with a welcoming speech on behalf of the Regional Mufti of the city of Shumen and a host of the event Mesut Mehmedov. He informed the participants about the rules of the competition in which the imams were assessed by a jury consisting of: Sherif Hyusnyu – Director of the Religious School “Nyuvvab” – Shumen, Mehmed Hasan – teacher in Religious School “Nyuvvab” and Mustafa Hakkioglu – guest-imam from the Republic of Turkey.

After the end of the competition the chairman of the jury announced the results. At first place was ranked Erhan Sali – imam of the village of Takach, at second place – Vezhdi Ashkan – imam of the village of Stralihitsa, and at third place – Mehmed Shuganov – imam-khatib of the town of Veliki Preslav (Kirkovo quarter).

For all participants in the competition there were provided cash prizes and other awards, which were presented to them by the Regional Mufti Mesut Mehmedov and the Deputy Regional Mufti Arif Mehmed.
