Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi participated in an international conference in Croatia

The Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi took part in an international conference of the Muslim communities in Europe on January 15 and 16, 2019. It was held in the capital of Croatia Zagreb and was organized by the Islamic Community of Croatia in cooperation with the Ministry of Awqaf of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi was accompanied at the conference by Dr. Arif Abdullah – Chairman of the Research Center at the High Islamic Institute (HII) and a lecturer at HII, and Abdullah was as a guest of the event from Bulgaria. The conference was also attended by Muslim religious leaders, academics and intellectuals from 25 countries in total from Eastern and Western Europe. 

The two-day event was opened at the Islamic Center in Zagreb by the host Aziz Hasanović – Grand Mufti of Croatia. In his address to all guests he focused on that Croatia can be an example for solving the Muslim problems in Europe, as well as for solving the issue related the status of the Christian minorities in the Islamic world.

The participation if the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi in the conference was with presentation of a report in which he informed the audience about the problems and the prospects for the Muslim community in Bulgaria.

Among the conclusions to which the participants in the two-day international event came, were that the Muslim spiritual leaders in Europe have to search and find the best ways to lead their communities. However, the positive experience and the good legal framework play a very important role for this.

According to the Grand Mufti of Croatia Aziz Hasanović, the model of Croatia can serve as an example to other European countries for the religious communities in the country are equal before the law, they co-exist in a mutual trust, and also the dialogue and the cooperation between the religious communities in the country are constantly promoted.
