Regional Mufti of Veliko Tarnovo was at a working meeting in the village of Varbovka

The Mufti of Veliko Tarnovo Syuleyman Masurev visited the village of Varbovka, Municipality of Pavlikeni, for the working meeting which took place on February 22, 2018 (Thursday). Besides the Mufti in it participated also the Mayor of the village Anton Antonov, as well as representatives of the local Muslim Board of Trustees. The meeting was held after the preliminary held first meeting between the residents of the village and the Muslim Board of Trustees – Varbovka.

The aim of the official meeting which took place on Thursday was the decisions made at the preliminary meeting to be agreed with the Mayor of the village and with the Regional Mufti of Veliko Tarnovo Syuleyman Masurev. Within the discussions were made several final decisions. A priority one among them was that permissions for funerals of Muslims in the village to be issued only to authorized imams, employees of Regional Mufti’s Office – Veliko Tarnovo. In addition to this there was approved the idea the cemeteries to be cleaned three times a year, around the Muslim holidays, and for the cleaning to be responsible the family/relatives of the deceased. In case that this is not possible they have to pay preliminary set fee of 3.00 leva for a single cleaning of one grave, for which will be responsible Mayor’s Office – Varbovka.

Other important decision, made during the joint meeting between the Mayor of the village and the representatives of the Muslim community, was all donations, made in the village, regardless of the occasion, to be submitted to the treasury of Muslim Boards of Trustees – Varbovka. The aim of this is to avoid possible abuses.
