Government of India introduces a strategy for promotion of higher education for Muslim women
Government of India of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduces a strategy for financial incentive for the young Muslim women to complete higher education. The managing authorities foresee financial assistance at the amount of 51 000 Indian rupees (about 1300 Bulgarian leva) for every Muslim girl who graduate college or university, reports the informational agency Times of India.
The program of the Government is also know in the country as “Shadi Shagun”, which translated means wedding gift.
The Indian government works on the project in cooperation with the Educational Foundation “Maulana Azad”. It is foreseen the financial assistance to be only for Muslim girls who have already received MAEF scholarships. A website is already being developed by the Organization where all the information regarding the scheme would be made available.
“Despite the amount is not so high we do believe that this is a step to encouraging the girls from the Muslim community, their parents and to complete their education in a college or university” – shared Shakir Hussain Ansari from the Educational Foundation “Maulana Azad”.
