Giant book-shaped library will be opened in Dubai
Unusual library with area of 66 000 m2 will be constructed in Dubai. The building will have a shape of an opened book and will have seven storeys. The cost of the project according to design data is estimated at one billion dirhams or 272 million USD.
The library is expected to be visited by about 42 million readers annually.
The library will also has center for conservation and restoration of books, historical manuscripts and documents, a museum section displaying rare artefacts from the Maktoum family collection, as well as a museum section dedicated to the historical and cultural heritage of human civilization.
The library is planned to be opened in the middle of year 2018.
