Supreme Muslim Council awards for good deeds

On 13^th of July, 2017 at the premises of Grand Mufti’s Office was held a meeting of the members of the Commission on establishment “Hadzhazade Mehmed Muhjiddin Efendi” award, which is established from the Supreme Muslim Council and will be given for contribution to the development of the Muslim Denomination in the Republic of Bulgaria. The Commission, which is elected by the Supreme Muslim Council, consists of Vedat Ahmed, Aydan Yumerov and Selyatin Muharrem. They are in charge of the preparation of a procedure for giving the annual award, which will be given in Hodzhazade Mehmed Muhjiddin Efendi’s name, who is the First Grand Mufti of the Muslims in Bulgaria, elected on 8^th of December, 1910, when the Grand Mufti’s Office started working. That is why the award will be given annually on 8^th of December. The award will include a plaque, certificate and money.

The aim of the award is to honor with a public recognition people with evident achievements and contribution to the development of the Muslim Denomination in the country and to make popular their exemplary deeds, which will contribute to the enlargement of the circle of good and exemplary acts and activities in the society.

Up to five awards will be given every year – for members of the Muslim community in Bulgaria and other citizens concerned with the problems of the Muslim Denomination. The reasons for awarding with prizes could be: long years of beneficial activity for the Muslim Denomination, high moral deed or act for raising the prestige or developing the activity of the Denomination, implementation of an unique or exemplary project related to the activity of the Muslim Denomination, publishing a work, making a study or implementation of a project and other significant activities.

The reasoned nominations for awarding will be made by the imams, the members of the Muslim Boards of Trustees, the Regional Muslim Councils and the Supreme Muslim Council, the Muslim schools, the Regional Mufti’s Offices and Grand Mufti’s Office, as well as with a subscription by the members of the Muslim community in Bulgaria.

The Commission set the date of 31^st of October 2017 as a deadline for nominating the good deeds. Until 10^th of November the Commission will have to assess the received proposals. And on 8^th of December at a ceremony will be given the first awards for contribution “Hodzhazade Mehmed Muhyiddin Efendi”.

The nominations for award have to be submitted in written to the Commission.
