Once again “Dzhumaya” mosque in Plovdiv was subject to vandal attack
Just a few of days ago the mosque “Murad Hyudavendigyar” in the city center of Plovdiv, known among all as “Dzhumayata” became a subject of another vandal attack.
On 3rd of May (Wednesday) this year after the evening prayer, around 20:50 o’clock, unidentified perpetrator threw a big, bulky stone towards the Muslim temple. As a result of this was broken a glazing of a window in that part of the mosque currently housing the office of Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv. Signal was promptly brought to the police – in the same evening the policemen carried out inspection on spot and took statements from witnesses.
The Regional Mufti of Plovdiv Taner Veli on behalf of the represented by him Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv brought an appeal to the Director of RDIA – Plovdiv on 4th of May, 2017. “What happened is a serious threat for the Bulgarian democracy and strongly compromises the peaceful co-existence of the different communities in the country. The classification of such crimes as “petty hooliganism” does not prevent the perpetrators from repeating over and over again their xenophobic acts” – wrote in his appeal the regional Mufti of Plovdiv.
The injured party, i.e. Regional Mufti’s Office Plovdiv, urges the legislative authorities to order implementation of the relevant investigative measures in order to find the perpetrator of the criminal act against the Muslim temple.
