Ray of hope
An exhibition entitled “Faith – hope for a better world” was opened on 21st of December, 2016 from 17:00 o’clock at the premises of Sofia Municipality. It is organize by the National Council of the Religious Communities in Bulgaria and is supported by Sofia Municipality.
The exhibition in the second stage after the held competition from the National Council of the Religious Communities for artistic works in which took part representatives of the six official religious denominations in Bulgaria. The competition was held in three age categories – from 6 to 11 years, from 12 to 14 years and from 15 to 18 years.
The total number of the works that took part in the competition was over 80. 30 of them were ranked to take part in the exhibition. From each of the age categories were nominated winners. Representatives of the Muslim community were successfully ranked at third place Dzhemile Miglena Kichikova – 12 years old from the village of Draginovo and one incentive prize for Savina Haydushka – 17 years old from the village of Churka.
The National Council of the Religious Communities in Bulgaria delegated the responsibility for the preparation of the exhibition to the Deputy Grand Mufti of Bulgaria Birali Myumyun. In addition to being a representative of the Muslim community in the Council of the Religious Communities, Birali is also a painter.
The jury that assessed the artistic works of the young people from different religious denominations in our country was composed by lecturers from the National Art Academy.
In his address during the official opening of the exhibition the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Myumyun said: “This exhibition is a ray of light for hope”. After which he added that “The difficult political situation in an international and in a global plan proves how hard the representatives of the different religious communities co-exist. Religions are pointed out as causes for conflicts. The present exhibition “Faith - hope for a better world” aims to leave other message and to prove just the opposite. The activity of the National Council of the Religious Communities in Bulgaria wants to prove that religions do not create but can successfully solve conflicts and problems in the modern societies”.
The exhibition will be available for visitors till 31st of January, 2017. Everyone who is interested and wants to see it can do this at the premises of Sofia Municipality at 33 “Moskovska” Str.
The National Council of the Religious Communities in Bulgaria thanks Sofia Municipality for the provided opportunity to have the exhibition “Faith – hope for a better world”, as well as to all participants in the competition. The idea is this competition to become a tradition and to be held every year.
