Regional Muslim Conference was held in Velingrad

A Regional Muslim Conference was held on 20^th of March, 2016 from 10:00 o’clock in the central mosque of the town of Velingrad, which was attended by 35 from 39 delegates in total. The Conference was opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by the imam of the mosque in Velingrad Azis Mehmed. The Conference was attended by the Grand Mufti of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the SMC Chairman Mr. Vedat Ahmed, the regional muftis of Sofia, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan Mr. Mustafa Izbishtali, Mr. Aydan Muhammed, Mr. Nedzhmi Dabov and Mr. Ali Hodzha, deputy Regional Mufti of Blagoevgrad region. Among the official guests were also the former Grand Mufti and currently a Director of the course for imams in the village of Ustina Mr. Selim Mehmed, mayors of settlements and chairmen of Muslim board of trustees.

The Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi welcomed the delegates and wished them a fruitful conference. He called upon the delegates each of them independently to make an assessment of the work done during the past mandate.

Mr. Vedat Ahmed also welcomed the delegates and shared about the difficulties which we faced during the past period, about the importance of the decisions which the Regional Muslim Conference is about to made. After the welcoming speeches of the representatives of the central management the floor was given to the chairman of the mandate committee Musa Durlu for a report. The Regional Mufti Abdullah Salih delivered a report on the activities of the Regional Mufti’s Office during the past mandate 2011 – 2016 and informed about the achieved results during the last five years and focused on important topics such as the summer and the year-round Qur’an courses, Week of Islamic Education, Orphans’ Week, Week of Mosques, celebrations of Kutlu Dogum, the activities during the Month of Ramadan. With an unanimous support the delegates nominated the proposed candidature of the present Regional Mufti Abdullah Salih who performs this function since year 2008.

The Regional Muslim Conference in Velingrad was closed with a dua (supplication) made by the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi.
