Grand Mufti’s Office presented its annual reports to OSCE
Grand Mufti’s Office presented its annual reports at the regular annual conference of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Dr. Sefer Hasanov, lecturer at the High Islamic Institute (HII) and official representative of Grand Mufti’s Office for this year’s conference of OSCE participated in the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th working sessions which were held between 29th and 30th of September, this year in Warsaw, Poland.
The reports were presented during the sessions Combating hate crimes and ensuring effective protection against discrimination” and “Tolerance and non-discrimination II” including statements related to combating racism, xenophobia, intolerance and discrimination against Muslims, as well as freedom of thought, conscience, religion or belief.
Nongovernmental organizations such as the European Muslim Initiative for Social Cohesion (EMISCO) were informed about the problems of the Bulgarian Muslims, like the fact that the representatives of the local authority undertake aggressive measures so that mosques to become museums or galleries; the insufficient possibility to practice the right of freedom of belief; the restrictions and administrative barriers set for the ability to profess freely the relevant religion.
