On July 26 (Sunday), 2020 Regional Mufti’s Office – Veliko Tarnovo hosted a traditional circumcision (sünnet). It took place in the mosque of the Old capital town where in the framework of the event were circumcised nearly 50 children from the region.

The circumcision was accompanied by an official program which was attended by the Regional Mufti of Veliko Tarnovo Syuleyman Masurev, the Chairman of the local Muslim board of trustees, the imam of the town of Suhindol and hundreds of guests from the town and the surroundings.

The program was opened with a lecture from the longtime professional Dr. Lyutvi Mehmed, who focused on the history, the meaning and the importance of the circumcision in Islam.

All guests were greeted by the host Suyleyman Masurev, after which before proceeding to the circumcision itself, a dua (supplication) for all children and for their parents was made.

The festive circumcicion, organized by Regional Mufti’s Office – Veliko Tarnovo, was carried out under a strict control on the observance of all anti-epidemic measures against the spread of COVID-19.
