Nisab and Fitrah for 2016

Grand Mufti’s Office of the Muslim Denomination in the Republic of Bulgaria informs the Muslim community in the country that at its session held on 23rd of May, 2016 in Sofia the Fatwa Commission made the following decisions:

1.The nisab (the amount a Muslim's net worth must exceed for them to be obligated to give zakat) for zakah, which is going to be given during the month of Ramadan in year 2016 is 4600.00 (four thousand and six hundred) leva.

2.The fitrah (sadaqat-al-fitr) for year 2016 is at least 5 (five) leva per person.

The calculations are based on the decisions of the Fatwa Commission made on 15th of August, 2009, by which they indicate the way for defining the amount of nisab for zakat and fitrah.
