The victims from New Zeeland were commemorated with a religious program at the “Banya Basji” mosque in Sofia

On March 19 (Tuesday) this year at the central mosque of Sofia “Banya Bashi” was held a religious program in order to commemorate the dozens of victims who died during the terrorist attacks in New Zeeland few days ago.

The program was organized by Grand Mufti’s Office of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria. It was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council (SMC) Vedat Ahmed, the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the deputy grand muftis, employees of the Muslim Denomination and ordinary Muslims from the capital.

The religious program included reading of Qur’an –i Kerim and mawlid, as well as reminder, done by the SMC Chairman Vedat Ahmed, and the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi recited dua (supplication).

We recall that on March 15 (Friday) this year an assailant killed 50 people and injured a nearly equal number in terrorist acts against two mosques during the Friday prayer in the city of Christchurch, New Zeeland. Later on the assailant was identified – this is the 28-years old Australian citizen Brenton Tarrant. This was a precedent in the history of New Zeeland – the terrorist act was determined as the most deadly attack in the history of the country.
