In Plovdiv was paid tributeto the innocent victims in the attempted coup in Turkey

On July 15 this year, exactly 2 years after the failed attempted military coup in neighboring Turkey took place a program with reading of Qur’an and Mawlid in “Hyudavendigyar mosque” in Plovdiv. It was organized jointly by Grand Mufti’s Office and regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv, and the aim was to pay tribute to the hundreds of innocent victims in the night of July 15, 2016 in Turkey.

Among the official guests of the memorial program in Plovdiv were the Chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council (SMC) Vedat Ahmed, the Deputy Grand Mufti Ahmed Hasanov  and the Secretary General of the Muslim Denomination Dzhelal Faik, as well as the regional muftis of Kardzhali and Haskovo, the Director of the Training School for Imams – Ustina Selim Mehmed. The event was also attended by representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Sofia, as well as by their colleagues from the General Consulate of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv.

Besides reading of parts of the Holy Qur’an and Mawlid for the deceased innocent victims the memorial program in Plovdiv also included a vaaz (preach), delivered by the SMC Chairman Vedat Ahmed.

We would like to recall that the failed attempted military coup in neighboring Turkey began during the night of July 15, 2016, when heavily armed soldiers with military equipment arrived at the “Boğaziçi Bridge” over the Bosporus. Today this bridge is renamed as “15 July Martyrs Bridge”. The sad statistics is that the victims from the events two years ago were nearly 250 and about 2200 another were injured. In connection with this currently in turkey is being constructed a “Museum of the 15 July Martyrs”, which was partly opened during this year’s memorial ceremonies – 2 years after the failed attempted military coup.
